Overview

Kingsway Church in Cherry Hill, NJ has been my home church for the past 6 years. In the last 2 years, as I have been becoming more involved in my church's production team helping with moderating our online services, I began to help them in various parts of their digital presence. This has ranged from web development, website & app administration, and social media implementation. See below what I have been up to!

Website & Platform Revamp

Starting in July 2023, Kingsway's Church Leadership decided to perform a website and church app platform holistic revamp from Subsplash to Tithe.ly. This decision came from a motivation to save money and to make the website & app editing experience more user-friendly. As the deadline of July 31st came fast approaching, Alex Shourds, Kingsway's Production Director, allowed me the opportunity to help him finish the initial website configuration while he focused on the starting app configuration.

Before & After

In less than a month (20 days to be exact), in the midst of finishing up my last few undergrad assignments, I learned the Tithe.ly website platform and was able to help Kingsway complete their platform revamp.

Tech/Tool Stack:

What I am currently working on...

  • Performing Lighthouse tests to help improve the quality of the website as well as improving accessibility
  • Utilizing SEO practices to improve user discovery as well as Google Analytics to gain guidance on user retention and experience
  • Researching AI tools that can improve Kingsway's overall online presence

Web & App Administration

As I finished up my college program in Winter of 2023, I began an internship with Kingsway to improve my real world skills in programming, overall website management, and to start helping administrate the church's app & notifications.

Later into the internship I was given responsibility over more online components of the church including...

  • Posting Church App Notifications | Scheduling & Optimizing
  • Maintaining the Events Calendar | Making sure each upcoming event is posted
  • Developing Special Event Pages | Easter, Christmas Eve, etc. required special signup pages
  • Updating the Sermon Catalog | After each Sunday, that week's sermon was uploaded to the website & app

Social Media

Alongside my work in developing Kingsway's website and app, I was also trained to help run their various social media accounts.

Youtube

Around April 2024, we took special attention to the church's Youtube channel which is where much of my work resides:

  • Video Editing Youtube Shorts and Long-Form Content, especially uploading each week's sermon using Davinci Resolve
  • Creating engaging thumbnails using a combination of tools such as Canva, thumbnail comparison sites like thumbsup.tv, and Youtube's native A/B thumbnail tester
  • Analyzing data consistent insight from Youtube's native analytics + SocialBlade

Next Gen Podcast

By June 2024, Kingsway's Children's & Youth Ministry released the Next Gen Podcast to help parents and families both within our church and throughout the internet.

Through this release I was responsible to implement podcast distribution to...

Church Production

Lastly, while most of my efforts in my internship focused on software development and social media, I also gained a fair amount of experience running Church Production across many layers especially taking an interest in lighting.

Kingsway's Production Team utilizes numerous tools that help those who attend each Sunday engage with God through worship. I have been primarily trained at a baseline level on:

BibleText

Recently our pastoral staff made a switch in software for where they would be creating slides for their sermons. But a common gripe they experienced was that there was no way to put automatically generated Bible verses into their slides, and often they would need to go outside of Canva to retrieve them. So I created BibleText!

By using a freely available Bible API, I was able to implement 4 different Bible versions into this app! All the user has to do is fill out the form and generate the Bible verse they want!
